Engineers who got tired of watching good systems fail at deployment.
Nyx Industries builds and integrates AI into machines that have to work in the field, on the line, and in contested environments.
The hard part was never the model. It was everything between the model and a machine that still works in a year.
Sensors, timing, power, safety, integration, and the long stretch afterwards where somebody has to keep the thing running through every upstream release. That is where physical AI programs actually fail, and it is where we work.
We do two things, and we are explicit about which one we are selling you. We build our own reconfigurable compute for the loops that will not close any other way, and we integrate on whatever platform your program already uses for everything else.
We would rather tell you that you do not need our hardware than sell you a module you will regret.
Who we are
John Schmotzer, Founder and CEO
Twenty years of systems engineering across defense electronics, automotive and GPU architecture. Fifteen issued patents. Background in modern control theory and real-time embedded systems, including production deployments of distributed motor control. Holds a Secret clearance.
The team
A small senior group spanning autonomy, FPGA design, embedded controls and business development, working with an instrumented agentic delivery pipeline rather than headcount.
Advisors
University research relationships in three-dimensional integration, design for test, and the spectral mathematics underpinning our architecture work.
Posture
Positions we hold, and will hold in writing.
- Allied nations only. We work with the United States and like-minded western democracies.
- Air-gapped by design. Our deployed systems do not require a cloud service to function, and we do not move your data off your site.
- No foreign model weights in anything we field.
- Measured, not projected. Every number we publish states the hardware it was measured on. Targets are labelled as targets.
- We say what we cannot do. On every engagement there is something outside our scope, and you will hear it from us before you hear it from your own team.
